November 2012

Books to Prisoners has won a ‘Light a Fire’ award from Seattle Met magazine and the Seattle Foundation. The magazine wanted to highlight the efforts of local nonprofits and sought nominations in a number of different categories. BTP could have won in several of those categories, but the one we got was very fitting: “Purely for the Love” awarded to a nonprofit that has no paid staff.

BTP was chosen from about 350 nominations,  which were vetted by a selection committee that chose winners based on the impact they have on the community and on how well they meet the challenges of their missions.

So thank you to the awarding committee, the people who nominated us, Seattle Met, and of course all the volunteers that actually make BTP what it is!
