On May 9th and 10th, Books to Prisoners (BTP) had the lovely experience of tabling at the Seattle Art Book Fair at Washington Hall. For six hours on both Saturday and Sunday, volunteers staffed a table and represented BTP with bright smiles and enthusiastic energy.

The fair was very busy. Three floors of vendors attracted book-loving visitors to peruse and buy books, magazines, and zines full of art. BTP was on the third floor–the Community Floor–with other community-oriented organizations, and our booth had many visitors! In addition to collecting emails from prospective volunteers and selling merch (stickers, t-shirts, tote bags, Dear Books to Prisoners: Letters from the Incarcerated book), our table featured an opportunity for visitors to purchase a book for an incarcerated person, which was a popular option. In total, BTP raised $615 that will be used to send books to incarcerated folks who don’t have the privilege of accessing art or information on their own.

Thank you to the Seattle Art Book Fair for hosting us, many thanks to our generous donors, and a big thank you to all our dedicated volunteers - Grace, Stacey, Siri, Mark, Hannah, Celeste, Katherine, Peg, and Abigail - who took the time to represent Books to Prisoners.
