BTP Needs Your Support on GiveBIG Day 2026

Today is GiveBIG Day 2026 and Books to Prisoners (BTP) is facing an unprecedented time. We need your support more than ever as we work to answer more than 1,000 letters from prisoners every month.

The United States continues to lock up millions of citizens without providing adequate support for prison education or prison libraries. Prison literacy programs are frequently one of the only ways incarcerated people are able to own books and use these vital tools to soothe themselves, educate themselves, and empower themselves to grow and change.

As a volunteer-driven organization with extremely low overhead, we do our best to use as much of your donations as possible on buying books and paying for shipping materials and postage. In 2025, BTP sent out 14,678 packages of books. That’s more than 19 tons of books! 

Here’s how your donation can help.

$26 sends packages of books to five people.

$158 provides postage for an entire day of requests for books.

$528 provides dictionaries (our #1 book request) to 100 incarcerated individuals.

Donate more than $200 and you will receive a BTP book or t-shirt, and are eligible for the BTP Donor Hall of Fame. Send us an e-mail and we’ll let you know your t-shirt options.
