Whether you can spend one hour or 10 hours answering letters, wrapping packages, writing grant proposals, or sorting books, BTP needs your help. Answer Letters and/or Wrap PackagesSimply open a letter from a prisoner, find a book in our library that most closely matches the request, fill out a simple invoice and mailing label, and prepare the package for shipping. It's that easy! But we have hundreds and hundreds of letters we need to answer, so even an hour a month can be a great help. We meet on Monday and Tuesday nights from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. in Seattle's University District to answer letters, shelf books, mail packages, and conduct regular business. For more information and directions, call us at (206) 442-2013 or email bookstoprisoners@live.com. We welcome individual volunteers and small groups! (If you are completing court-ordered community service, you must be approved before starting. See Court-Ordered Community Service for more information. Organize EventsAre you good at organizing things? Would you like to gain experience coordinating fundraising events like art auctions, lectures, concerts, or conferences? BTP needs high-energy, committed people to generate, plan, and organize events that educate the public on prisoner literacy issues, prison conditions, promote BTP, and raise funds. For more information, call us at (206) 442-2013 or email bookstoprisoners@live.com.
